--Southern California Quarterly: The quarterly magazine published by the Historical Society of Southern California has a long and distinguished history. HSSC first began by issuing An Annual Publication.  In 1935 a quarterly journal was launched.  As a respected historical resource, the Southern California Quarterly continues its commitment to scholarship, public awareness and appreciation of local history in a lively and colorful new format.

--The Southern Californian: HSSC’s own newsetter, the Southern Californian contains quarterly information on the happenings of the historical Society as well as historical articles and information from scholars and researchers studying the southern California area.

--Support Los Angeles County Schools with our “Keeping History Alive” Program: “Keeping History Alive” addresses the alarming and steady decline in the quantity and quality of history instruction in the K-12 schools of Los Angeles County. Through our work with teachers and the Los Angeles County Office of Education, we know that federal and state funding for classroom instruction is devoted almost entirely to reading, language arts, math and science. As important as these subjects are, history, unfortunately, is being left behind for hundreds of teachers who are forced to follow mandated curriculums. “Keeping History Alive” fills two major needs arising from this imbalance in today’s schools: first, HSSC provides direct grants to Los Angeles County K-12 teachers of history, especially those who teach at low-income and disadvantaged schools, to purchase classroom resources such as books, maps, software, globes, etc.; and, secondly, HSSC offers elementary school teachers and their students organized field trips to the Lummis Home and Gardens where they can participate in curriculum compatible activities and projects lead by certified staff and volunteer teachers.
